About Me

I love working with great people and building meaningful technology. I strive to push myself outside my comfort zone with the goal of learning and growth. As a manager, I've tried to create team environments where enterprising people feel empowered to reach for big goals, try new things and learn how to focus on having meaningful impact on the technology, product and people around them.
In 2005 I dropped out of the PhD program a t CMU to start working at Google on a social network called orkut. I learned how to build technology and products at scale at Google. After a few years of that, I wanted to be at a faster company with more personal responsibility and since I loved working on social projects, Facebook was a natural choice. At the time that I joined, the Facebook was a little over 200 people and the energy in the air was magical. The amount of experimentation and willingness to make big bets was incredibly refreshing to me. At the time there was no centralized spam team so I got to be one of the founding members of the Site Integrity team. Along the way, I transitioned from an IC to learning about management and eventually became a director that was responsible for spam, account protection and internal reporting tools. After 7+ years at Facebook, I was recruited to Uber to run their Growth engineering team. This team quickly grew from a small product team focused on a few geographies to a geographically distributed team focusing on product, backend and tooling for growing our rider and driver based, ad-tech and critical integrations to and new products like cash to unlock new markets.
Along the way, I met a lot of amazing people, learned countless life/work lessons and made a lot of valuable mistakes along the way. I feel blessed for the journey I have had and the generosity and mentorship from so many wonderful people. This blog is an attempt to pay that forward and draw on what I have learned to be useful to a more people. I hope you enjoy it and get something valuable from it.
